Hiking and climbing

The holiday paradise for hikers and mountaineers in the Dolomites.

The Chalet Elisabeth is the ideal starting point for a great number of hiking tours in the wonderful alpine nature of the Dolomites. Many hiking routes, Nordic walking trails, jogging paths or walks pass right in front of our house.

From the Puez high route to the tour round the Sassolungo Massive - the choice you have is really vast. Hiking through the gorgeous landscape of the Dolomites is a very special pleasure and there’s the right hike for everybody: from comfortable walks on easy pasture paths to more demanding excursions on mountain ridges and crests. Rustic mountain huts and chalets are waiting for you when it’s time for a rest.

Excursions we recommend:

Refugio Stevia mountain hut, 2312 m, – Forcella Piza, 2489 m, – Rifugio Firenze mountain hut, 2037 m
4 1/4 hrs / 900m of difference in altitude / level of difficulty: medium

This walk takes you straight into the middle of the Puez-Odles nature park. Starting on the steep slopes of the Stevia mountain, the route winds down through the wonderful Alpine flora of the Cisles valley.

Starting point: above Selva, Daunei car park 1.687m

From the car park, start out towards rifugio Juac, then, soon after, take path no. 3 to the right and follow it to path no. 17a (Palota path), until you reach an altitude of about 1,300 m where path no. 17 leading up from rifugio Juac joins to the left. Now walk eastwards on a sharp ridge to forcella San Silvestro, then walk into a gorge and continue over the grassy slopes to the Stevia hut. Continue northwards from the hut walking over the alpine pastures, through a corrie and finally over a steep and grassy slope to the mountain ridge.

Descent: Walk down the gorge and over a steep, rocky section to rifugio Firenze mountain hut, from there continue to rifugio Juac and walk down path no. 3 again, take the stations of the cross path which leads into Vallunga and from there walk back to Selva.
